Getting a Private Pilot Certificate

Upper Limit Aviation’s flight training program is for everyone,  Professional Pilots headed to the Airlines and pilots who want to fly for recreation.  Watch the video below and hear from Chris,  a student of ULA who made his dream of flying come true.

A TIMELINE OF WHAT TO EXPECT

Discovery Flight

1-hour flight experience where you meet the Upper Limit Aviation team, and go for a flight in one of our aircraft.  If you decide you want to do your flight training with us after that, then we get you all signed up and schedule your next lesson.

40 Hrs
Private Pilot Certificate

3-hours of cross-country flight training and 3-hours of night flight training 

One cross-country flight over 100 nautical miles total distance

10 takeoffs and 10 landings to a full stop

3-hours of flight training on control and maneuvering solely by reference to instruments

3-hours of flight training with an authorized instructor in preparation for the practical test

10-hours of solo flight time consisting of 5 hours of solo cross-country time, one solo cross-country flight of 150 nautical miles total distance with full stop landings at three points and one segment of the flight consisting of a straight line distance of more than 50 nautical miles

Three takeoffs and three landings to a full stop at an airport with an operating control tower

80 Hrs
Instrument Rating

Instrument Time (Actual or Simulated)

15 Hours Flight Time From Authorized Instructor

A flight of 250 nautical miles along airways or by directed routing from an air traffic control facility;

An instrument approach at each airport; and

Three different kinds of approaches with the use of navigation systems.
